With the 3,200 number bibs all taken, women’s participation accounting for 30% and the arrival of 70 elite triathletes ready to battle it out in the new Elite Short category, the Challenge Barcelona Triathlon is set to fill the city with swimming, cycling and athletics this Sunday, from 8 am.
The itinerary offers six different distances, starting from the Mar Bella beach, with the public able to come along and watch:
- Elite Short: A 1,500-metre swim, 60-km cycle and 16-km run.
- Olympic: A 1,500-metre swim, 40-km cycle and 10-km run.
- Sprint: A 750-metre swim, 20-km cycle and 5-km run.
- Super Sprint: A 300-metre swim, 7-km cycle and 2.5-km run.
- Junior Challenge: A 300-metre swim, 7-km cycle and 1.5-km run.
- Aquathlont: A 750-metre swim and 5-km run.
Competitors will also be able to participate individually and relay formats are offered in the Sprint and Olympic categories.
