The swim at Challenge Barcelona has been cancelled due to a heavy swell that is forecast to increase throughout the morning. Athlete safety is a top priority and with recent events in Spain in mind, the race organisation has confirmed Challenge Barcelona 2024 will be a duathlon with the professional athletes now starting at 8:15am.
The start of the race for the Short, Olympic and Sprint distances will be from Avenida Litoral with Calle Bac de Roda (next to the CEM La Mar Bella): LOCATION
The start of the race for the Aquatló and Junior Challenge distances will be from the Mar Bella beach: LOCATION
Starting times:
Men’s short: 8.15h (5k on foot + 56 on bike and 15k on foot)
Women’s short: 8.16h (5k on foot + 56k on bike and 15k on foot)
Aquathlon: 9.15h (T1 from l’aigua + transció + 5k on foot)
Olympic: 10.30am (2.5k walk + 40k bike + 10k walk)
Sprint 12.35h (2.5k walk + 20k bike + 5k walk)
Junior Challenge 1:30 p.m. (T1 from the swim start + 1.5 laps on foot)
